The Ghent media group Borgerhoff & Lamberigts acquires the group Politeia. With this acquisition, Borgerhoff & Lamberigts consolidates its position in the publishing landscape.

Since its founding in 1990, Politeia has made a name for itself as a publisher serving all public administrations, the police and the non-profit sector. The group currently employs 22 people, all of whom remain in post. The groups and imprints acquired by Borgerhoff & Lamberigts are Politeia Publishing, ASP (Academic & Scientific Publishers, including VUB Press, University Press Antwerp and ASP Editions) and the government database Pinakes. With this, the publishing house and its academic imprint Owl Press are taking an ambitious step in their growth process.

Indeed, they are expanding their activities to include bilingual publications for a specialist public sector audience, a brand new digital library, a fine range of scholarly publications linked to an Open Access publishing program, a web tool for PHD theses and a giant government database.

Politeia has a close collaboration with the VVSG (Flemish Association for Cities and Municipalities), the OVSG (Educational Association of Cities and Municipalities), the Expertise Center Dementia Flanders and many other professional organizations. Finally, they also organize training courses, workshops and conferences for employees of police and justice, local authorities, education, the care sector and other non-profit sectors.

The Brussels offices remain the meeting center for the activities of Politeia, ASP and Pinakes.

The acquisition of Politeia marks the beginning of Borgerhoff & Lamberigts’ ambitious growth plans. The company aims to make further acquisitions in the near future with the goal of strengthening their market position.

Borgerhoff & Lamberigts was assisted in this acquisition by SDM Corporate Finance Group NV.
